In comments reported in an interview with a media outlet, Degtyarev said current collaboration already covers 22 sporting disciplines and is expected to expand further as both sides look to deepen engagement in areas of shared interest.
“There is mutual interest in this area. In this way, we will enrich each other,” he said, adding that Russian coaches are also actively working in Türkiye as part of ongoing exchanges, according to reports.
Highlighting recent discussions in Türkiye, Degtyarev said he met with Turkish Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak and World Ethnosport Union President Necmeddin Bilal Erdogan. He described the meetings as constructive and part of an established pattern of regular dialogue between the two countries.
He also said both sides have agreed in principle to develop a roadmap during a future meeting that would outline plans for joint sporting events covering the 2026–2028 period, according to reports. The initiative, he added, is intended to further formalize and strengthen bilateral sports cooperation.
