Final Week of Registration is Closing Soon for Ankara’s Inaugural 1920
The 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) event, sponsored by Gokturk Holding, Kecioren Municipality, Trendyol, Kizilay Mineral Water, Mixmey, and Acibadem Healthcare Group, with Yesilay as a social responsibility partner, will begin at 10 a.m. local time (0700 GMT) in front of Anadolu’s headquarters.
Runners will follow a route passing the area around Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, before returning to the starting point. The race will be broadcast live on TRT Spor Yildiz.
More than 1,000 participants have already been approved, with one week remaining to register. National athletes will compete alongside prominent international runners for medals.
The race includes age-group categories for participants ranging from 35-39 up to 70 and older. In the general classification, first-place winners for men and women will each receive 100,000 Turkish liras ($2,255), second-place 75,000 Turkish liras, and third-place 50,000 Turkish liras. Winners in each age group will receive 15,000 Turkish liras for first place, 10,000 Turkish liras for second, and 5,000 Turkish liras for third, along with additional gifts from sponsors.
