Turkey Holds Diplomatic Talks Amid US-Israel Attacks on Iran

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has conducted a series of intensive diplomatic phone calls over the past three days in response to the US-Israeli offensive on Iran and Tehran’s subsequent retaliation, according to sources.

Following the joint strikes launched on Feb. 28, Fidan spoke with the foreign ministers of Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Syria, Egypt, and Indonesia to evaluate the situation and explore possible measures to stop the attacks. On the same day, he also held separate discussions with his counterparts from the United Arab Emirates, Spain, and Hungary regarding the regional escalation.

In a conversation with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, Fidan reviewed the growing tensions and addressed ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the confrontation.

On Sunday, he exchanged views with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi about the latest developments inside Iran. He also spoke with Oman’s foreign minister as part of broader initiatives to ease the regional crisis.

The following day, Fidan held talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on efforts to de-escalate the conflict. He additionally discussed the broader regional implications with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky.

Later, during a detailed call with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, the two sides explored concrete steps to lower tensions and halt the attacks.

Fidan also conferred with Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, discussing the political, security, and humanitarian dimensions of the unfolding crisis, with a focus on ending hostilities, reducing tensions, and strengthening diplomatic coordination with key stakeholders.
