Turkish Stock Exchange Closes Down on Tuesday

(MENAFN) Turkey's primary equity benchmark retreated Tuesday, shedding 0.3% in a session marked by nearly evenly split market breadth and elevated transaction volumes.

The BIST 100 index settled at 13,797.04 points, declining 41.34 points from Monday's closing level.

Opening at 13,855.79, the index swung between an intraday low of 13,726.15 and a peak of 13,888.20 during Tuesday's trading session.

Market participants witnessed mixed performance across individual components, with 48 indices finishing lower while 50 advanced into positive territory.

Daily trading activity reached 189.1 billion Turkish liras ($4.33 billion), as the index's total market capitalization stood at 13.67 trillion liras ($314.2 billion).

Currency markets showed the USD/TRY exchange rate at 43.6330 as of 6:30 pm local time (1530GMT), while the EUR/TRY pair was positioned at 51.9610, and GBP/TRY traded at 59.6560.
