The signing took place at a prominent industry event in the defense sector, marking a further stage of cooperation between the two companies as part of ongoing efforts to expand domestic production capacity in aviation technologies and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers.
Previous agreements have already resulted in the delivery of dozens of TEI-PD170 engines for use in both UAV platforms. Reports indicate that Aksungur aircraft equipped with these engines were introduced into operational inventory in late 2025, with additional deliveries continuing.
The TEI-PD170 engine is described as the country’s first domestically developed turbodiesel aviation engine, designed to offer long operational life, improved altitude performance, efficient fuel consumption, and strong electrical power output for mission systems.
According to reports, the engine is seen as strategically important for strengthening local supply chains and increasing self-sufficiency in aviation propulsion systems, as it is produced using domestic resources and labor.
The agreement is expected to further enhance Türkiye’s UAV production capabilities, increase localization in national defense platforms, and improve the global competitiveness of its unmanned aerial systems.
