Turkish Airlines Hosts Two Air Transport Summits in Istanbul

(MENAFN) Turkish Airlines, Türkiye’s national flag carrier, is this week hosting two of the aviation industry’s most influential gatherings — the World Financial Symposium (WFS) and the World Passenger Symposium (WPS) — both organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The simultaneous two-day events, which began Wednesday, bring together airline leaders, financial experts, and passenger-experience innovators for what IATA described as a “dynamic platform for airline retailing, finance and passenger experience unite, strategic exploration, actionable insights, and transformative innovation.”

Last year’s edition of the program attracted 1,241 delegates to Bangkok, Thailand, marking one of the largest turnouts in the event’s history.

At the opening ceremony, Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of Turkish Airlines, emphasized aviation’s unifying role in a rapidly changing world. “The aviation industry has a unique power that is bringing people together, shortening distances, gathering families, accelerating trade and realizing dreams,” he said.

Bolat noted that Turkish Airlines has been “connecting the world, building bridges between continents and servicing as a flag carrier for over 90 years.” He added that the aviation sector has “overcame the challenges it faced, quickly adapted to changing passenger expectations, and significantly accelerated its efforts in the areas of digitalization and sustainability.”

Destination: Transformation
Under the theme “Destination: Transformation,” the WFS and WPS are spotlighting the bold evolution reshaping global air travel. The joint symposium features sessions on cutting-edge topics including digital payment systems, the future of airline finance, passenger experience, and modern retailing strategies.

A particular focus is being placed on the modernization of payment systems — exploring innovations from the digital euro to emerging global payment partnerships.

Alongside the discussions, the event’s exhibition space hosts leading companies showcasing technologies and services ranging from booking systems to next-generation payment solutions, with participants including Worldpay and Travelport.

The twin symposiums underscore how digital transformation and sustainability are defining the next era of global aviation — and how Istanbul continues to cement its role as a vital hub for the industry’s future.
